Robert Huddle Jamison 1884-1965
Attorney Robert H Jamison was born in Greenville, Ohio, September 18, 1884. He graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1906 and from Harvard Law School in 1910. He married Marjorie Carr on May 21, 1918. Three girls were born of this union.
Mr. Jamison was an artillery captain in World War I and retired as Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserve. He remained active in military affairs. Mr. Jamison was a civilain in the United States Defense Department, a position he held for more that forty years. He received an award from the Army for the meritorious service to his country.
Mr. Jamison was the president of the Cleveland Board of Education for two years and served as a member for three terms. He was affiliated with the following groups: Boy Scouts of America, The Euclid Avenue Association, Hiram House, the Bar Association, the Cleveland Crime Commission, the Regional Planning Commission, the Church of the Covenant, Cleveland Public Library Board, the Community Fund, the Welfare Federations, the YMCA, Chamber of Commerce, County Zoning Board, The Cleveland Church Federation and a trustee of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.
In 1965 he and his wife Marjorie, won the Cleveland Medal for public service. In 1964, he received the Army's top civilian award, the Distinguished Civilian Service Medal.
